Just a little update on whats happening before, during and after Christmas...Yin Yoga Nidra Evening, Aerial Hammock 6 Week Course, New Yoga and New Beginners Pilates Classes start from 2nd Jan 2025, Opening and Closing Over Christmas - Classes and Clinic Hours. Christmas and January Holiday 2025 Dates

Class Closures:

  • Off from Friday 20th December 2024.

  • We start back again on Thursday 2nd January 2025!

  • Classes are off the last week of January also - from 27th Jan to 31st Jan 2025.

Clinic Closures:

  • Closed from 25th Dec 2024, and open again from Thurs 2nd Jan 2025.

  • Clinic is closed the last week of January also - 27th Jan to 31st Jan 2025.

Our Beginners Introduction to

Aerial Pilates & Yoga (Begin & Improve) 6 Week Course:

In this course, we take the best from Pilates and Yoga and fitness and strength training to build upper body, core and leg strength. You will also stretch all the muscles in the body, develop balance and coordination and have fun along the way with some interesting little tricks in the hammock! Then melt away in your lovely cocoon to wind down and relax at the end of the practice.

This class is totally different as it is activity based training - ie it doesn’t feel like you are doing ‘exercise’ but you build along the way - a more fun and interesting way!! Limited places left - so sign up now!!

Please note - this class is not suitable if you are affected by any shoulder injuries, vertigo, high blood pressure or any conditions affected by this, or if you are pregnant.

We cover the basic fundamentals of Pilates to introduce you to the core values and to feel them in your body as we begin to build the connections from body and mind to build strength, mobility, balance, coordination, breathwork and help improve your overall health. Then we develop them for best effect! We focus on what your body needs and deep diving into concepts when needed to help you develop further.

The beginners classes are suitable for some injuries, post natal and anyone! Get in touch with Tanya prior if you currently are affected by any injuries or conditions to be sure this is suitable for you.

Classes at TDR are more bespoke and specific and work towards your longevity, efficiency and improving your healthspan - more focussed than anyone around! We use a variety of small equipment to cover a wider range of the Pilates repertoire adapted from the large equipment like the reformer, chair, cadillac and spine corrector to bring you even more benefits and body feedback.

Not all Pilates classes are the same!

The gentle Yoga class in our warm cosy studio is a beginners class suitable for some injuries, post natal and anyone! Get in touch with Tanya prior if you currently are affected by any injuries or conditions to be sure this is suitable for you.

Begin & Improve is suitable for anyone that wants more movement in their lives, and are not restricted with any issues or injuries.

Our Yoga classes involve movements and poses which are selected to be more bespoke within the attending group to help you develop your movements alongside improving your mobility, stretching, strength, posture, breath work and relaxation.

Important Note - Price Increase For All Services Booked From Jan 2025

Please be aware that all services have had to increase in price.

I have kept prices lower than advised since covid, but I now have to align with inflation sadly.

All new prices will apply from 1st January 2025 for classes and appointments.

These can now be viewed in studio and on the website posters.

For any prepaid packs and services - if purchased and used in Dec - Dec prices apply. If they cross over into January, a small surcharge will need to be paid when next attended in January to align to the new pricing.

All prices will be set on the booking system to the new prices from 1st Dec for booking appointments and from 2nd Dec for class sign ups. If you are prepaying for any service to be used in Dec - contact Tanya to arrange the correct payment amount as these will be chargeable at the Dec rate.

New Equipment Order

Order going in in early September (deadline potentially Friday 13th Sept).


As the studio is being equipped to enable more pulling actions to aid strength development through more Pilates and fitness style equipment training, you may want to add in to your home practice some new equipment to try to replicate as best as possible. I have tried to research cost effective ways, but I know these may not suit everyone. So as ever, if joining me ONLINE for classes, or just practising at home yourself, I will be teaching modifications and alternatives. If you can though, do! As they bring more benefits! Oh and see the sticky sock note below!

If you are registered for ONLINE Pilates classes - please reply regarding the email sent with video link (and text) recently. Check your junk folder or let me know if you didn’t receive it.

Otherwise, if you know of any equipment that we typically use and you want something, let me know and I will be able to tell you if i can get better and cheaper or direct you where to get some. (Yoga blocks, belts, foam rollers, resistance bands, small inflatable balls, big stability balls, hand held weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, etc, etc.)

As ever sticky socks are important in studio and at home - safer all round!

Partner Body Massage Workshops

I’ve been wanting to run this again for years! Since the last time which could be 10yrs ago 😆

✅ Would you be interested in a partner massage course? Aimed at working on each other, safely with the basics to aid muscle and mind relaxation. This is not a qualification, but an of interest course.Ideally you and your partner attend to get the best out of it! But you can attend singly if you wish!

✅ What areas of the body would you prefer to cover?

  • Neck/shoulders,

  • Backs,

  • Legs/glutes, 

  • Arms/chest/shoulders,

  • Or what do you have in mind?

✅ Typically to cover the basics of 1 area, it would probably take 2.5hrs as we need time to teach, try and then swap.

✅ I have 2 possibilities coming up:

  • Friday 18th Oct 6.45-9.15pm

  • Saturday 19th Oct - eg morning? (9.30am?) or after lunch? (2pm?)

Let me know if you are interested and what areas and dates and times would work best. This is for those of you who have enquired or intimated that this would be useful, and as usual I want it to suit you to be able to attend a workshop that will be useful for you for many a time to come!

If you are also interested in learning the basics of sports massage to work on your partner, this could be a further workshop. The basics of body massage can aid application of a sports massage - which is why level 3 courses are more like body massage now. Let me know also if you would be interested in this in the future.

(Note - this is not a qualification, but a hobby/interest course to work only on family members over 16yrs.)

A Guided Mindful Relaxation Session at Work

This 25 minute session involves a variety of techniques with a mindfulness approach, such as deep breathing exercises, visualisation and imagery, and progressive muscular relaxation (tensing and relaxing muscles).

You can be seated or you can lie down and follow the guided journey.

The aim of the session is to help the mind escape from the stressful thoughts of work and onto a higher level of mental relaxation, giving a break to the body and mind.

Meditation is an important part of our day to help our mental and physical health. This should be a daily practice and like anything - the more you practice, the more effective you become at it. Practices can vary from 1 minute up to as long as you need. Any time invested is time well spent.

In the corporate world, taking regular breaks is important to keep the mind fresh and alert and to be able to focus and when business and stress take over, we just cannot function at our best for the job and for ourselves.

I delivered this guided session online for Allstate NI on 20th September 2023 as part of their Health focus month.

July Holidays Update

It’s been a mad busy month for so many people and I’m sure - like us - you’re looking forward to some time off with long school holidays stretching out ahead of us.

July Holidays

  • Please note that there will be no classes during the week of the 8th - 12th July - to give you time to get out exploring!

  • The Academy will be closed completely only from 9th to 14th July.

Appointments for Injury Therapy, 1:1s and Sports Massage

  • Tanya will be taking appointments up until 5th July and will be back on the 15th July, and then again up to 19th July and back 26th July.

  • While Gary will be taking appointments up until 8th July and will be back on the 25th July.

Yin yoga workshop on 15th July

Because it’s so popular, Tanya’s holding another yin yoga workshop on Monday 15th July 7.30-9.30pm - a great wee treat to yourself after the holiday week.  Take the time to enhance your self awareness, tune your insight and access your own inner wisdom. Lisburn Half Marathon on 19th June

Amazing news! Gary and his colleagues were at the Lisburn Half Marathon last week supporting the runners by providing recovery advice and pre and post event sports massage for all runners entered - and all for a good cause!

They raised £72.20 on the night for the MS Society NI, bringing the total we've raised for this brilliant charity to over £600!!!

Easter Holidays at TDR and Upcoming Events!

We're off for a few days over the Easter weekend, but why not use that time to check out our online booking app, and get yourself a massage sorted, or try out some new classes?

Easter Holidays, Workshops and Booking Online!

We’re all wondering whether Spring will ever arrive. The few brave daffodils are almost blown over and we’re still having to wear hats and scarves when we venture outside. But undeterred, we’re all looking forward to some time off this Easter, with the long weekend and school holidays ahead of us.

Please note that there will be no classes from Friday 30th March - Thursday 5th April, EXCEPT

  • 6.30pm aerial fitness on Wednesday 4th April - still running!
  • 10am Pilates on Thursday 29th is additionally off for Easter.

All classes are back firing on all cylinders as usual on Friday 6th April.

Tanya is available as usual except Easter Saturday through to Easter Monday.
 

Upcoming Special Events

  • We are having 2 special Aerial and Acrobatic workshops, held on Saturday 7th April - check it out! A blast after Easter to look forward to with Tina Machina of Tumble Circus! Only a few places remaining!!

 

  • Later in April we will be offering another opportunity to calm the mind before exam time and before the summer rush to get holiday planning!  Why not join our Mindfulness Morning on Saturday 28th April - 2.5 hours for you?

Why not make some time for you this Easter and make an appointment for a Sports Massage?! Gary is off for the Easter weekend and is available afterwards from Wednesday 4th April for Sports Massages to aid your recovery and relieve tight muscles, and leave you feeling great! Various times are available to suit.
