Ballyclare's May Fair is Coming to Town!
Hasn’t time flown by due to covid and now the Ballyclare May Fair is back on, post covid (hopeful)!
You can find out what’s happening on the Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council’s website.
Please read on for the car parking arrangements in the town.
The big 5 & 10K race is on with the Co. Antrim Harriers too!
Hasn’t time flown by due to covid and now the Ballyclare May Fair is back on, post covid (hopeful)!
You can find out what’s happening on the Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council’s website.
Here is a quick look below. Some events are starting this Saturday 21st May and all winds up next Saturday 28th May.
Getting Parked Next Week!
All classes and appointments are as normal all week - just allow a little more time for parking.
This event results in closures around the town including disruption to parking, so please plan your route ahead to ensure you leave enough time to arrive for your appointment/class.
Tanya will post some updates through the week on our FaceBook page if any different scenarios present on parking!
The Council tell us that the following closures apply during the week of the May Fair:
Both Harrier Way Car Park (beside the football grounds) and The Square Car Park (centre of the town) will be closed for the full week of the May Fair (21st – 28th).
There will be three road closures in operation throughout the May Fair.
1. Harrier Way, 9:30am Tuesday 24th May – midnight Sunday 29th May.
2. Main Street, 10am – 5pm Tuesday 24th May
3. Ballyeaston Road, 5:30pm – 8:30pm Thursday 26th May
There will be some additional parking provision at Ballyclare Presbyterian Church and along the other roads leading to the Square e.g. Doagh Road, Rashee Road and Ballyeaston Road. Some people also park in Asda or in Grange Street (towards Home Bargains).
Pavements will remain open throughout the town.
On every day except the Tuesday 24th and Saturday 28th traffic will be able to move around the Town Centre as normal towards Asda. On these two days (times as above) there will be no traffic on the square, however the Doagh Road along the top of the square will remain open so people can come in that way and make their way to Asda, Rashee Road and Ballyeaston Road.
Hopefully this map on the May Fair programme is helpful.
If not, please contact me to find out what I can help with. I will probably have to park in the leisure centre car park if early enough, or go via the new road from the Templepatrick Road A57 to the Doagh Road and then to the Asda car park. The Asda car park may be the best.
Again as I see what is unfolding, I will update on Facebook and Instagram through the week to help your journey be smoother.
The Big Race!
One of the highlights is the Mayfair 10k Race and 5k Fun Run, organised by the Co. Antrim Harriers on Saturday 28th May 2022 at 10.00am. We always support this event as it is a great event run by an amazing bunch!
There’s still time to book before entries close at 11.45pm on Sunday 22nd May.
If you attend, have fun, whatever you get up to at it!!
See you soon,
Tanya x
It's Newbie Season at TDR Academy of Movement and Therapy
We want you to feel the difference that both Yoga and Pilates can have for your body and mind!
There are many crossovers between Yoga and Pilates and each can be useful to you in many ways. Both focus on lengthening and strengthening, with mindful movements to improve your brain to muscle connections, and they relax your body and mind thereby reducing stress. But there are also some differences, especially depending on the level of intensity of the practice.
Are you aware of feeling tight muscles and stiffness, a general lack of mobility and maybe notice your breathing feels shallow? Maybe you’re feeling stressed and tense? Then, Yoga is for you!
Do you feel that your posture is not always where it should be, that daily life tasks are a challenge? Maybe you’re getting niggles and weaknesses, or are dealing with injuries or getting back issues? Do you need to work on the smaller muscles to improve your other training activities and boost your mobility? Then, Pilates is for you!
Remember, we’re here to help guide you towards which to try first, or maybe you’d benefit from doing both! (We offer large discounts when doing more than one class with us - approx 25% off of your 2nd class and even more of your 3rd!! Get in touch with Tanya to discuss the options.)
One thing we hear a lot is that people are put off going to classes in gyms and larger studios as they’ve either hurt themselves or don’t learn how to do the movements correctly. Our focus here is on helping you learn these movements and how they feel in your body so that you can keep good technique as much and as often as possible. We’ll help you learn when you are out of alignment and how to correct or modify for the best effect and safe progression.
We are small in size and mighty - the smallest class sizes around - with you as our focus. Our classes are suitable for various levels and attended by both males and females. We provide constant attention to help your movement practice as we coach - we don't do the class - we watch you and keep you the focus! We also encourage a bit of craic too - all exercise needs to be fun!
So, are you interested in giving your body something good?
We have limited mats available and our classes are run in blocks of 6 weeks to give your body and mind time to absorb - and learn - the difference:

After such a great night, we were on a high on Saturday morning at the Co. Antrim Harriers race day.
Gary finished an amazing 3rd in the 5k!!
Straight after the event, Gary was set to work!! Tanya and Gary were both offering free sports massages and injury advice and they were certainly kept busy. So another big thank you goes to all those that generously donated money for their post run massage - we raised an amazing £96.80 for the MS Society NI! Awesome!!
It wasn't all work though, as Tanya proves you've got to have a laugh too supporting the CAH team mascot through all his hard work!

Ballyclare May Fair's coming up & we'll be there!
We’re delighted to say that Gary and Tanya will be there supporting the runners by providing injury advice and post event sports massage at the Mayfair 10k Race and 5k Fun Run, organised by the Co. Antrim Harriers on Saturday 26th May 2018
Another year has whizzed by and the Ballyclare May Fair is back on this Saturday for a week from 19th - 26th May! Will you be coming over to take a dander and join in the fun?
As is the tradition, the fair will kick off with the traditional horse fair in Six Mile Water Park. This is one of the few horse fairs left in Northern Ireland, although it’s much more than horse trading nowadays. There will be family activities, a local food and crafts market, live music in the evening, Mayor's parade, sports events and exhibitions - something for everyone! And around the town, local shops compete for the best-dressed window - which one do you prefer?
The Big Race!
One of the highlights for us is the Mayfair 10k Race and 5k Fun Run, organised by the Co. Antrim Harriers on Saturday 26th May 2018 at 10.00am. There’s still time to book through Athletics NI before entries close on 20th May.
We’re delighted to say that Gary and Tanya will be there to supporting the Co. Antrim Harrier's event and the runners by providing FREE injury advice and post-event sports massage on the day (10-15 minute sessions approximately). Spaces are limited and last just 10-15 minutes. Donations are very welcome for this service, with suggestions at £5, which will be donated to the running clubs nominated charity again. They’ll be in the function room upstairs in the rugby club, near the fire exit - call over and say hello! Although if it's a very sunny day - they may just take advantage and set-up outside!! Come and say hi!!

This year we feel that we have a good chance with two categories:

- Most Innovative Marketing Campaign award - we hope we have something different in our campaign to make you smile!!
The Awards are a great way to recognise businesses that support Ballyclare and who take pride in their products, services as well as our local area. For the two consecutive years running at the awards being voted for and shortlisted as runner up, we still firmly believe that’s us but that we could win this year!

All you need to do is click here between now and Wednesday 2nd May.
You can also post your support on Twitter and Instagram by using the hashtag #BClareBiz and follow @ballyclaretown but note this does not replace the actual vote.
The shortlist will be announced on Friday 4th May and shortlisted businesses will be invited to make a short written submission to the judging panel before 8th May (yikes!!). The winners will be announced at the awards evening on Friday 25th May in Ballyclare Town Hall.

The Ballyclare Town Team have requested that you please vote in all categories for the business of your choice - we hope it’s TDR Academy - as you will not be able to return to the voting page again once you have submitted your choice.
Please note - voting patterns are very closely monitored this year and voting irregularities (e.g. more than one vote for a business per IP address or sequential votes which may indicate votes have been purchased or purposely tampered with) will result in those votes being disqualified. So please vote on your own devices and only vote once. Thank you for maximising your vote for us!!
TDR Academy Receives Another Customer Service Award
TDR Academy is now a recognised WorldHost business with an excellent standard of customer service.
We're excited to share our latest good news! We've been awarded the WorldHost Customer Services Business award!!
A few weeks ago both myself and Gary took part in the WorldHost training scheme, which is part of the Star 2 programme - a business support initiative funded by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. TDR Academy was one of only five local businesses from the borough who were awarded the WorldHost Customer Service Business award.
This course was delivered by Lynda Willis from Lurgan's Customer Sense Training and Consultancy. She believes that:
“Going the extra mile for all customers is vital today and the course reinforced the importance of having a positive attitude towards customers in person, on the phone or via digital communications. It doesn’t matter what industry you work in, customer service is essential to ensure repeat customers and online recommendations.“
The successful businesses gathered together to celebrate at Mallusk's Loft Restaurant and met with the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg:
“I am delighted to present certificates to the five businesses that took part in the WorldHost customer service training. It demonstrates dedication and commitment to providing the highest standard of service to both visitors and local customers. This will help generate higher visitor numbers in the future, which will be a great economic benefit, not only to the businesses but, also to our Borough.”
The Star 2 initiative aims to help businesses improve customer service skills in a range of industries including retail, tourism, hospitality, leisure and passenger transport sectors.
We've always been proud of how friendly and customer-focused we are at TDR Academy, and now we have been awarded a certificate for our hard work over the years. It's here to remind ourselves to keep striving for excellent customer care and positive impressions.
We hope to see you soon to continue delivering a great service to you!
Ballyclare Business Awards - Results Are in!
TDR Academy shines at the Ballyclare Business Awards 2016 by placing as the runner up in the largest category 'Service with a Smile'.
You helped TDR Academy smile at the Ballyclare Business Awards!!
We asked you a while ago to show your support and vote for us at the Ballyclare Business Awards 2016 and now we'd like to say a very big thank you!
We are pleased to say that we were voted Runner Up in the 'Service with a Smile' category and we're proud as can be.
The awards are a great way to recognise businesses that support Ballyclare and who take pride in their products, services as well as our local area. We think that's us! The 'Service with a Smile' category is the biggest of the awards with over a thousand votes.
The awards night was organised by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and Mayor Councillor Thomas Hogg was there to support the event with the successful businesses, pictured above with Tanya.
So a big thank you once again!!
Now it's onwards into Spring and a busy time of year ahead!!
